people.

I stare out the window a lot.

maybe it is an old habit of being the daughter of a trucker.

sometimes i feel like im in a plastic box,

and i can't escape this feeling of watching other people. but not being with other people.

the feeling of not knowing if i fit in or not.

I often think of Jesus. being the extraordinary man he was. walking on this earth. casting devils out of other people.

but who were his people?

we hear about Mary, and Martha. and everyone in between.

We know about his mother, and his father kinda falls out of the picture.

Did Jesus feel like he fit in?

Who were his people?

This thought has been trapped in my head over the last couple of days until yesterday morning.

I was plowing through my morning workout, listening to one of my many podcasts, when a phrase really hit me.

the most influential people, don't fit in. they are called names. they have odd behaviors. they work when no one else is. they don't try to fit in the box of the world. and they leave a mark in history.

I find this so interesting. To be the greatest it's okay to NOT fit in.

I think of all those teenage girls who are trying on 7,000 outfits in the morning more concerned about what their friends will say about how they look, than actually liking what they put on.

Have you ever noticed how far some people will go just to fit in?

BUT JESUS.

our leader, our maker, heavens gatekeeper.

the man that walked on this earth, breathed for our sins, and then died.

Our Jesus makes it very clear that it is ok to not fit in. to not know who your 'people' are.

Romans 12:1-2 I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

This passageway changes everything. God has called us to have a higher mindset than conformant.

Think about it.

Jesus ate with the sinners.

He talked to women at the well.

He publicly disapproved of the political and religious leaders of his time.

Jesus wasn't willing to fit in; Just to make others happy.

So what makes you think you should?
