So you want to be an influencer?

Updated: Jan 22

Influence

/noun/

the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behavior of someone or something, or the effect itself.

So you want to be an influencer?

Guess what you already are.

The world uses the word influencer as someone who has thousands of Instagram followers, has written a book, won the Nobel peace prize, and traveled all over the world.

Vs.

The definition of an influencer is someone who has an EFFECT on SOMEONE (keep in mind the one ;).

The important thing to gather from here is that having an influence means ONE person at a time, and it is done through relationships. You are an influencer. Do you have one friend? You are an influencer. From the moment you are born you have had millions of impacts on people, you have been placed in someone's life for a lifetime or a season for a reason. FROM GOD! Jesus created us to have relationships and to worship him with all our hearts for a reason.

The most influential thing you can do in someone's life is to tell them about Jesus. Your goal should be to Make Heaven Crowded.

Don't believe me?

Has that famous person you follow ever done anything on a personal level that has made you a more confident Son or Daughter of the King, inspiring you to follow at the feet of the cross?

No.

The people that have the greatest impact on you are the people around you.

Mothers.

Daughters. Fathers.

Grandparents.

Aunts.

Uncles,

Siblings. Friends.

And these are the people that YOU have an impact on.

Jesus gives us so many examples of one on one relationships

Mark 7:31-37

31 Then Jesus left the vicinity of Tyre and went through Sidon, down to the Sea of Galilee and into the region of the Decapolis.[h] 32 There some people brought to him a man who was deaf and could hardly talk, and they begged Jesus to place his hand on him.

33 After he took him aside, away from the crowd, Jesus put his fingers into the man’s ears. Then he spit and touched the man’s tongue. 34 He looked up to heaven and with a deep sigh said to him, “Ephphatha!” (which means “Be opened!”). 35 At this, the man’s ears were opened, his tongue was loosened and he began to speak plainly.

36 Jesus commanded them not to tell anyone. But the more he did so, the more they kept talking about it. 37 People were overwhelmed with amazement. “He has done everything well,” they said. “He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.”

Jesus was the kind of man that had thousands of followers when he was walking on this earth and still took time, departed from the crowd, and had a relationship with ONE person.

Do not live your life striving to be popular, famous, and a worldly influencer. Strive to live life with the mindset that you are going to have an impact on one person's life each day.

You're not living a life to reach God's people if you don't know the people behind the icons.

If you don't have a prayer attached to their name, do you really know them?

Know. Their. Name.

Pray. For. Them.

Everything you say over someone about some or to someone can impact and change their lives. positive or negative. You have to realize and accept that God called you to this earth to spread his word FOR GOOD, and with that choose to make a positive impact on the lives of others.

Every person you meet God created, treat them that way and tell them about Jesus.

The call: Put thought on something today that could positively impact someone's life. Give a compliment, pray over someone, write a note of encouragement.

BE. A. LIGHT. FOR. JESUS.
